A female passenger lost her life after a private vehicle driver rammed into a motorcycle along the Igan Road in the Ago-Iwoye area of Ogun State.

This is just as the motorcyclist sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a traffic update sent to PUNCH Metro correspondent on Wednesday.

According to Akinbiyi, the accident involved a red Toyota Camry with number plate JJJ 168 GY and a red Bajaj motorcycle with number plate KNN 873 ZY.

He added, “According to an eyewitness report, reckless driving on the part of the Toyota Camry led to a head-on collision with the Bajaj oncoming motorcycle.

“One female died and one male was injured.

“Traffic was partially affected but TRACE operatives and other sister agencies controlled the situation.”

He concluded that “the accidented vehicle and motorcycle were evacuated from the road and roadside to the police cage for further investigation.”

PUNCH Metro reported on Tuesday that two people lost their lives while commuters were held to several hours of gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following two road crashes at different sections of the road.

The first accident, which claimed two lives, happened at the Straight Gate section of the expressway at about 8 am.

Similarly, a container-laden truck that fell near the Otedola Bridge section of the expressway led to several hours of gridlock.
