
Six arrested in Lagos for vandalising road barricade
Lagos State authorities have arrested six individuals for vandalising a government barricade at Obalende Round About, a key traffic point in the state.
The arrested persons are Matthew Yohana, 19; Jinadu Aliyu, 33; Yohanna Adamu, 29; Ayuba James, 25; Umoru John, 19; and Yakubu Ali, 25.
In a statement on the arrests posted on X, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State. Tokunbo Wahab said, “All arrested individuals will be prosecuted in line with the relevant extant law of the state. We will not allow criminality or lawlessness to undermine public safety or the environment in Lagos State.”
The arrest follows a series of similar enforcement actions in Lagos where authorities have sought to check vandalism and maintain public order.
Recent reports by PUNCH Online detailed the arrest of groups involved in illegal street protests and destruction of public property in parts of the metropolis.
Earlier in the year, a similar crackdown was conducted where several youths were apprehended for damaging traffic signs and obstructing roadways in Ojota and Ikeja.

The Commissioner reiterated the state’s commitment, saying, “We are determined to uphold the rule of law and ensure that Lagos remains safe and conducive for all residents and visitors.”
