“We are deeply grateful to the United States Government for its enduring strategic partnership with Nigeria.

“The acquisition of the AH-1Z Viper helicopters will significantly enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s combat effectiveness, operational efficiency, and mission readiness.

“We are fully committed to ensuring these platforms are delivered in the shortest possible time. Every necessary step will be taken to facilitate a seamless procurement and integration process,” the statement partly read.

Abubakar noted that the acquisition of the AH-1Z Vipers, known for their precision strike capability, survivability, and advanced avionics, would significantly improve NAF’s operational effectiveness and mission readiness in various theatres across the country.

As part of the visit, Ejodame said the Air Marshal also toured Camp Pendleton, where he met with senior officers of the U.S. Marine Corps and inspected the AH-1Z platforms currently operated by Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39.

He said the visit provided insights into the best practices for operating, maintaining, and sustaining the advanced helicopters.

“This visit has provided a unique opportunity to understand best practices for the operation, sustainment, and logistical support of the AH-1Z platform from the United States Marine Corps,” he said.

The Air Chief reaffirmed that the helicopters would be deployed responsibly and strategically in the fight against insurgents, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening the peace and stability of Nigeria.

“Our goal is to create enduring peace while protecting innocent lives and property in line with internationally accepted rules of engagement,” he added.

Abubakar also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for the Nigerian Air Force, saying the progress on the acquisition reflects the President’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security infrastructure.
