Police deploy drones to hunt for Bayelsa judge’s abductors
The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has deployed tactical teams and drones in efforts to locate the abductors of a Bayelsa State judge, Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro.
Omukoro was abducted on Saturday evening at about 7.00 pm by some armed men in uniforms and forced into a Toyota Hilux van.
The incident took place before a popular eatery, Kilimanjaro, in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa.
Omukoro was a one-time chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Sagbama Branch.
Details about the incident remain sketchy, but it was gathered that the judge probably went to the eatery for dinner when he was accosted by the uniformed men.
A video trending online captured the moment he was abducted and forced into the van, but his whereabouts are still unknown as of Sunday morning.
The Bayelsa State Judiciary is yet to comment on the incident, but the state police command said it has deployed tactical teams and drones in search of the assailants.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Musa Mohammed, said, “The command has deployed tactical teams and drones to trail and arrest the hoodlums.”
